On Writing

Stories were always my escape. From school, from work, from the world when things became too much. I would go the library and find two, three, sometimes ten books to get lost in. I don’t remember half of them, but still, they shaped me.

Stories have more power than we realize. They shape the way we think, show us what could happen, and inspire us to become the main character in our own lives. That’s why even the littlest kids will bring you a book and beg for one more story.

Words can cut. Words can heal.

And most importantly, they can make you feel something.

Becoming an author? The one writing those stories? It’s the best thing in the world. To think my characters live inside the minds of readers sends chills down my spine.

Writing is cathartic in many ways. It gives me a place to channel my joy, my anger, my grief, and so much more. It provides a safe place to reimagine what the world could look like and who fits into it. Creating characters that resonate with people feels like showing them a piece of my soul and being accepted for it.

For those of you wondering if you can do it, if writing a book is something you can cross off your bucket list, the answer is yes. Everyone’s perspective matters. If there’s a story you feel inside, trying to claw its way out, just start. Even if it’s messy, once it’s out, you’ll understand what you needed to learn along the way.

What emotions needed more time and space to take up.

So if writing is something you want to try, I will always be here, cheering you on. And if you want advice or encouragement, reach out. I’m always happy to help if I can.

Because every story matters.
